DIY Pruning Tips
When pruning branches, cut back to another branch or right up to some foliage. Randomly cutting in the middle of the branch leaves an unsightly appearance of a stick pointing out into the air.

You may think you’re saving time, but in reality the job will take much longer when blades are dull. Plus, the result is a lot less clean and healthy for the shrub.
So before you start hacking, take an extra 10 – 15 minutes and use a file to sharpen each individual blade.
Each plant has different requirements. For example, trimming a flowering shrub at the wrong time of year could result in a whole season without those beautiful, bright flowers.
